What do we look for when recruiting talent?
We are looking for individuals with an exceptional academic background and a commitment to technical excellence.
We want voracious learners who are focused and dedicated.
We are looking for curious minds. Flexible. Committed to results.
Who recognise the value of teamwork.
Who are involved and connected to the world around them.
Who think critically.
Who connect the dots when faced with complexity.
Who actively contribute their best to building a culture of well-being in the office.
Why PLMJ?
We don't have one culture; we have many.
This diversity is how we exist in the world.
We don't think in one way.
There are as many ways of thinking here as there are people. There are those who think logically. The intuitive ones. The pragmatic ones. The meticulous ones.
There is no single approach to work.
A lot of work is done by many minds that think and produce together. For that very reason, the results we deliver and the professional environment we offer are unique.
Those who join us become part of a highly competitive team with all the qualities it takes to help athletes succeed.

First stage
Interview with members of the Trainee Lawyers Committee, including partners, senior lawyers and the Human Resources team. This is an opportunity for us to get to know you, including your background, interests, hobbies and motivations.
3
Second stage
This includes non-eliminatory online tests to help us explore topics in the second interview, which will also be with the Trainee Lawyers Committee. This conversation will go deeper, exploring who you are, your preferences and working styles, and how you think from a legal point of view.
4
Selection
Once the selection process is complete, PLMJ informs all candidates of the outcome, even if they did not reach the interview stage. PLMJ always contacts candidates, either to thank them for applying or to extend a formal invitation to join the firm as a trainee lawyer.

What is the trainee lawyer programme at PLMJ like?

The Bar Association’s trainee lawyer programme lasts for around one year. At PLMJ, it operates on a rotational basis.
  • You will spend eight months in two different practice areas.
  • You will always have a mentor from your area to support you at each stage, ensuring you receive support, guidance to help you grow, and feedback.

SUMMER INTERNSHIP

Single interview
With the Trainee Lawyers Committee, including partners, senior lawyers and the Human Resources team. We want to get to know you, including your background, interests, and motivations.
3
Selection

What can you expect from the internship?

  • Duration: Three weeks in July.
  • Focused experience: It is not rotational, so you can join only one practice area and get to know the team.
  • Mentoring: You will have two mentors. One of them, an associate or senior associate, will be your junior mentor. They will support you throughout your training period, helping you to settle in and assisting you with anything else you may need. Your senior mentor will be a partner or senior counsel, who will provide structured feedback on your performance and be responsible for assessing you during your training period.
  • Future: If you perform to the standard we are looking for, you may be invited to join us as a trainee lawyer the following year, or you may be able to enter the second phase of the recruitment process directly.

FAQ
We know that when you are just starting out in the legal profession, you will have lots of questions. In this section, we have compiled answers to the questions we are most frequently asked. Our aim? To make the process simple, transparent and accessible, ensuring nothing is unclear.
How can I apply to join PLMJ?

There are two roles you can apply for: a summer internship or a trainee lawyer position. The application process is the same for both options. You can apply via our website by filling in the application form and uploading your CV, qualification certificates and cover letter. Alternatively, you can hand us your CV at the job fairs we attend.

When do applications for summer and professional internships open?

Applications for summer internships usually open in March.
Applications for trainee lawyers are announced in August. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels.

How long are the intern and trainee lawyer programmes?

Summer internships usually take place in July and last for three weeks. During the internship, you will be assigned to a practice area.
Trainee lawyer programmes last for one year, beginning in September, with rotations between areas during the programme.

Are summer internships paid?

Yes. They are paid, reflecting our commitment to valuing talent from day one.

From which year of my degree can I apply?

For summer internships, you can apply from the start of your third year of a law degree (in September of the following year, when the process opens).
To join the trainee lawyer programme, you must have completed your degree by the start of the training period in September of the following year.

Is a master’s degree required for the professional internship?

It is not mandatory. However, a master’s degree is valued and can give you an advantage when applying to join us as a trainee lawyer.

What kind of candidates are you looking for?

We are looking for individuals who have a solid academic background, are intellectually curious, have a collaborative spirit, and are willing to learn. We welcome diversity of experience and perspectives.

Which skills are most valued?

Alongside legal knowledge, we value critical thinking, teamwork, communication skills, foreign language proficiency, and the ability to adapt to challenging contexts.

Do you value experience gained through extracurricular activities, summer internships, part-time jobs or international programmes?

Yes. We value backgrounds that demonstrate initiative, curiosity and adaptability. Participating in academic projects, competitions, internships and international experiences, or balancing your studies with work, demonstrates the skills and attitude we are looking for.

How are candidates selected?

PLMJ’s recruitment process is very transparent and has been carefully designed to meet the firm’s requirements and the expectations of individuals who wish to start their career here.

The first stage of the selection process involves analysing applications, including CVs, qualifications, and motivation to join PLMJ. If you are successful, you will be invited to an initial interview to help us get to know you better. For summer internships, there is only one interview. For the trainee lawyer programme, there is a second interview, and before that, you will be invited to take non-eliminatory online tests that we will discuss in our second interview. Once the selection process is complete, you will be informed of the outcome, either receiving a formal invitation to join the trainee lawyer programme or a thank you for participating. Even if you do not advance to the interview stage, you will receive a message thanking you for your interest in PLMJ once the trainee lawyer group has closed.

Is there any supervision during the internship?

Yes. We ensure continuous supervision by the team for both summer interns and trainee lawyers, guaranteeing your integration and development. In addition, you will be assigned a mentor in the summer internship and in all rotations as a trainee lawyer. Your mentor will support you, help you manage your workload, and provide feedback on your performance.

How are the areas in which trainee lawyers will work assigned?

Assignments are made based on the three areas of preference that you indicate in your application and during your interview. Availability of vacancies in each area is also considered. We always seek to align your choices with existing opportunities.

What criteria determine whether trainee lawyers are invited to join the firm after completing their training and being admitted to the Bar Association?

The number of training places is determined each year based on the firm’s actual needs. This means that, in principle, the entire group of trainees we receive may be offered a position at the firm. The invitation to join PLMJ after the training period is based strictly on professional performance and the personal and social skills demonstrated, as well as a qualitative assessment of integration into the teams where the trainee has worked.

Sneak peek
A good definition of organisational culture is the way things are done within an organisation. It is not an unrealistic idealisation, but an accurate reflection of how things are done. At PLMJ, we embrace this approach. We are a firm that likes to think and encourage others to think, too. We like to experiment and take risks. We are as obsessed with the quality of our work as we are with rewarding our people for their daily efforts.
